Small houses and ADU’s have emerged as a new segment in residential development. A recent push for higher density in California and elsewhere, has produced new guidelines for building secondary structures & dwelling units on residential lots. These guidelines have expanded buildable area and streamlined the permitting process. In some jusistictions detached structures up to 1200 sf and 25' high are allowed within just 5' of side and rear property lines. After numerous conversations with clients who are looking for ways to increase their usable space and/or add an income-producing unit, Wayman Robertson Studio has studied various configurations & sizes to illustrate the possibilities awaiting homeowners.
